Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft tissues in the body to enhance individual health and wellbeing. Soft tissues consist of muscles, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments, and are more pliable through massage to promote circulation and blood flow which increase the rate of healing. This involves improving physical and psychological changes for general wellbeing.
There are many different types of massage. These include
- Swedish
- Rehabilative
- Sports
- Aromatherapy
- Lymphatic
- Myofascial Release

As defined by the Australian Association of Massage Therapists; Massage is the practice of influencing soft tissue by physical, functional, and in some cases psychological purposes and goals by accredited professionals. Massage involves acting on and inspiring the client's body with pressure (structured, unstructured, stationary, and/or moving), tension, motion, or vibration done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, and/or organs. Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearm, and feet.
