With Easter rapidly approaching the stores are full of chocolate and the weather outside is cooling down. What better way to satisfy those chocolate cravings on a chilly day than with this hot chocolate recipe? Try out our variations, and find that perfect combination.

Ingredients: (Serves 2)
3 cups milk
150g chopped dark or milk
chocolate
Extras for toppings/variations

Method:

Warm 2 tall serving glasses. Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Don’t allow the milk to boil. Add chocolate, stirring constantly until fully melted. Pour into pre-warmed glasses/mugs.
Variations:
• Top with a couple of marshmellows, and allow them to melt before drinking
• Add a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg, and a few drops of vanilla essence for a warming blend
• For an Aztec chili hot chocolate, add in a vanilla bean split lengthways, a cinnamon stick and a red chili split with seeds removed, to the simmering milk. Add chocolate, and steep for a few minutes once melted. Strain spices and serve.
• Ginger orange hot choc:
Blend the zest of 1/2 an orange and a teaspoon of chopped ginger with the chocolate, until fine. Stir into the simmering milk until all mixed through.
